[blog] Lord of the rings [May. 13th, 2009|02:07 pm]

It's all about highlights, turning points and milestones.

Peopleusually attribute unforgettable experiences with clothes, songs, phrases, events or other items to act as remembrance for theunforgettable things that happened in their lives. Listening to BonnieBailey's "Ever After",  avoiding hearing a whispering "Happy Birthday"song, keeping a movie ticket spent with a special someone, getting haircuts, cleaning bedrooms, , the list goes on.

I buy silver rings to signify turning points in my life.

I already have 3,  one for my first vodka,  one for my high school graduation and  one for entering college.

My college ring's life is roughly... 8 years old. So that means, i am already studying for  8 years. Talk about a real life Van Wilder.

Then Icame to realize after my course adjustment (just a while ago) that ionly have 24 units to take so i can graduate. 18 for this term, and 6for next term.

I just wanted to look at my college ring for sentimental purposes. 8 long years and it's still with me.

Then it shocked me. The ring was gone. My precious...gone. I didn't know how, i didn't know when, I didnt know why...

Does itmean college really is coming to an end for me? Does it mean HELLOUNEMPLOYMENT already? or does it mean im just too stupid to lose a ringeven when it's just wrapped around my fingers?

I hope it's the third one. I think im still not ready to buy a new ring to signify entering the adult world.

Ormaybe i can just buy another one to remind me that i lost a sentimentalitem from way before i started looking out for myself.

Now im wishfully thinking i can hear a a famous line in LOTR,
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" and just prolong my still longer stay in college.

[blog] i died...technically [Mar. 20th, 2009|07:12 am]

In accordance to March's Fire Prevention Month, CAMP BIG FALCON WAS BOMBED.

1:30PM
I was going around the building looking for people. The elevators were turned off so i had to use the stairs.

1:48PM
Securityofficers were inspecting every floor, instructing students as well asthe faculty to leave the premises immediately. I was already wonderingwhat's going to happen.

1:55PM
Since i had a fair knowledge of the school layout, i thought using the 3RD stairs was the best idea to go out of the building.

1:59PM
This lady, who supposedly opted to use the 3RD floor stairs told me "Dali...baba na! may..."

2:00PM
Then there was this loud explosion...

... ... ... ... ...

Apparently, CSB has a knack for loud and explosive fire drills. I've experienced 3 fire drills during my stay in school.

Today's fire drill was the best. [and worst]

Theexplosion came from the 3RD floor stairs which i was about to use toleave the school. The storage room in the 4TH was the exact location ofthe bombing. If you could compute the explosion, both 3RD and 4TH wouldhave been destroyed, together with the lady accountant who told toleave, the clinic...and me.

Surprisingly,I was holding a recorder when it started so i had the drill recorded.Nakakatawa. "Kasalukuyan pong sumasabog ang SDA building...pati ako."

Then, stupid things began to happen.

Thefiretruck could not reach the "fire" in the 4TH. Hindi kaya ng waterpressure. All it did was wet the walls and clean the mirrors of 1st-3rdfloors. Malinis na tuloy ang SDA building ngayon. I can conclude that the SDA building would be hard to evacuate and save during times like these.

Wantingto be heroes, some tried rappelling...pero dun sila sa maliit na padernag-rappel. What's the use? Why did it had a dying person sa wall naiyon? There wasn't even a fire escape or some tunnel to go there[supposedly].

Funny part was the rappellers were more like humping each other than saving each other. It was the first R18 fire drill ever.

I thinkthe drill failed. There were still people sa 11TH floor when theexplosion happened. I could even sneak into some floors. Masyadongmediocre ang sweep nila. The fire drill was also expected by thepeople. They just wasted precious time and resources, only to receivelaughs and probably harsh criticisms.

[blog] something old, something new, something sexual [Jan. 16th, 2009|03:15 am]

Ihaven't greeted the new year by posting something here. I wish i couldsay "there's a lot to do so i didn't have the time to update" butno...i was just lazy.

As thenew year entered, at least i expected something new. But some peopleare resistant to changing their ways. May nang-aasar na luma na yungpang-asar, tipong "Hello, wala ka na bang masabi pang iba?"

let me put it this way:

Something OLD:
- unending office work
- Graduation pamimilit by the parents
- my baon
- same plastic people...how i wish i could name them here :D
- the adjustment line...kasing haba ng pila sa TANGINANG NIYONG LAHAT
- old issues
- enemies
- "Mito bakla ka!" hahahahaha

Something NEW:
- hmmm
- hmmm
- now that i mention it, i think there's nothing new this year. maybe my ballpens and subjects in school

Then i learned about something new which in turn was something old to me.

OLD:
A longtime ago [When i was still in highschool], a girl ran started tellingpeople i harassed her...more of a I MOLESTED her. The school wenthaywire. Apparently, i wasn't even talking to this girl anymore whenshe started this gossip. In short, I MOLESTED A STUDENT, I MOLESTED AGIRL.

NEW:
Yearsafter [When i was in college], another seemingly story began floatingaround school.  I MOLESTED A STUDENT, this time, A BOY. Same situation:boy told people, wasn't even talking to that boy for a long time.Though this time, i don't know if people believed him.

Ratherthan being offended by these things, i find it funny that people taketime to make up such stories [even with supposedly complete details].Most of all, those people who easily believed these stories are thethose whom i am laughing at the most. These Gossip-mongers, believingeverything at earshot, did not even had the effort to ask my side.

Maybe next time, i'll tell im running for Makati Mayor or something like it; or even...im a member of the Alabang Boys.

Maybe i talk to these two...tell them "minolestya kita? fine totohanin na natin para naman credible kayo." Then maybe i'll make it Front Page of a newspaper, or justthe college newspaper. Hahahaha "STUDENT HARASSES FELLOW STUDENTS"

Hindi pa ako showbiz,  ganda na ng issue ko.

[review] The Blog that stood still [Dec. 13th, 2008|09:22 am]

It's been a while since my last review of a movie. After all, i haven't watched any movie [in cinemas] for quite some time. I have to admit, i've been downloading like hell since i got my dsl.

---

Since there was this Anti-Chacha rally last night, Marvs and I decided to watch the 1951 remake THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

Being true to its title, we sat still throughtt the entirety of the movie trying to understand its message.

Probably it's a 103-minute environmental movie of convincing that mankind is the reason for all the dangers and calamities we experience as we go through our lives. Or it could be Noah's Ark [or Blob for that matter] in super 3D (thanks to WETA Digital--visual effects company who made LOTR and KINGKONG look fantastic) or it could be a 103 minute advertisement because of the multitude of products placements scattered throught the movie.

Keanu Reeves was fit for his role. Stern, emotionless, wooden...and boring. I'm having a hard time looking for a different angle between his character in MATRIX, CONSTANTINE and A SCANNER DARKLY.

But my review could be unreliable because a huge man was sitting infront of me, so i might not have seen the movie quite properly. (hahahaha)

Bottomline, it's an eyecandy [nothing more, nothing less] because i think it failed to connect with me because of constantly waiting for a good story, i ended up missing the characters all in all. Think WAR OF THE WORLDS.

2/5 ( it should have been 2.5, but because of the huge person, nah.)

[blog] Spend like there's no tomorrow. [Nov. 18th, 2008|01:41 pm]

It felt something in between pride and fulfillment, getting my [first] hard-earned salary.
And what better way to spend it?

SPLURGE.

Luckily, I was at the NBC Tent last Friday and It took me only an hour to spend 7500 (whoops, this does not mean that's my salary) Pesos.

Shameless plugging, starting November until the end of December, NBC Tent will hosting this weekend bargain of DESIGNER CLOTHES and other related metrosexualisms and vanity thingamajigs. I bought a Zara jacket for only 1k.

I think the products were leftovers from last year's collection so it would probably appear out of uso already. But hell, if you're a brand conscious person with a tight budget, GO and SPLURGE every weekend.

I'm already eyeing for the PAUL SMITH shoes there. Or should i buy myself a new laptop.

Hmmmm...priorities...Shoes or Laptops? hahahaha

That's All.

[Blog] So now what's going to happen? [Oct. 18th, 2008|02:34 am]

I saw a ghost at Burgundy Towers;
A friend told me my third eye is becoming active.
So what's going to happen?

I already have a part-time job
But im still part of the publications office in school.
So what's going to happen?

Someone came back from nonexistence;
I don't know if should be mad or not.
So what's going to happen?

I have DSL,
I lost 3 thousand pesos,
A friend is getting married,
I havent done anything with thesis,
I have two boarders,
I'm opting to become a brother,
I want to stop going to school,
I need time...
Space...
WARP! NGAYON DIN! (hahahaha)
So what's going to happen?

There's a lot of things in my mind that clutters me
There's a lot people around that's bothering me
There's a lot of this, a lot of that
So what's going to happen?

I do not know; I do not care.
Yet i do know i'm getting there.

--------

Haven't updated my blog lately. I'm having a hard time because i think i already use my journals as promotional materials for events or job openings.

I think i have to sign up for a different account already

If looks could kill... [Aug. 27th, 2008|02:43 pm]

Feasts, Photos and World Peace [Aug. 13th, 2008|03:09 pm]

The school celebrated the Feast Day of our patron saint a while ago.

Here are some of my observations:

1. Most seminars and events are focused for FACULTY, not students. No wonder students do not have any rapport or support for the event.

2. Offices received a memo to seize operations from 1-230pm. The Yearbook Office and our neighbor The Benildean was "asked" to close and attend a mass dedicated to the patron saint. "Asked" was just an understatement...it was more of a "forced". Codename Hi-tech was even wondering "Why force me to attend, I'm not even Catholic."
(This one's true...unlike the usual student rebuttal, "huh? i'm Agnostic."

It made me think that it's one of the reasons admin and students have this invisible gap between them. You cannot force someone to like what you like to do. Everything in school is a requirement; and i mean EVERYTHING. You are required to attend parties, events, symposiums, lectures, seminars, plays that you don't even need.

If the event is something worthwhile, then you don't have to force people to attend it. The Eraserheads Concert this coming August 30 is something worth going to. DLSU's College Week is always box-office because of the various events students and teachers can participate. Even COMSCI's CCS Week was a blast (considering COMSCI students are a bunch of geeks).

I believe our school has more creative ways to think of making events, after all, it's an art school. (well...SDA for that matter) FSN is one example.

3. My boss pointed out "Kanina, Mass hindi kayo pumunta...ngayong may free food, dudumugin niyo. Ano ba yan?" Which was ultimately true and shameful for the students...What a bunch of freeloaders.

Then i thought, why give the students free food when you can give them to the poor people outside...or somewhere else (naks, Bayaning Pilipino) After all [again], the Lasallians are supposed to be for the poor, not for freeloaders.

Why do i sound so pakialamero? hahahaha I still want my school to be cool and all awe-inspiring (and really learner-centered) rather than the COLEGIO ng mga SOCIAL AT BOBO.

------

On other stuff, i went to this exhibit featuring works of (diploma course on photography) students at the BLACK BOX Theater. There were 13 concepts...yet only one was worth looking at [based from technical aspects and aesthetics, ayan ah, hindi ko sinabing PANGET yung iba hahaha]. Congratulations for "Breaking the Rules"...you have 4 votes (from me, my managing editor and my two bosses, and probably one from the AVP).

Still, do visit them, it's a way to get away from the stress finals week is giving us.

F1 is not an option [Aug. 11th, 2008|02:12 pm]

I’m already ina state of constant disbelief from asking for help.

Last time, I learned(from some egotistic psychologist) that depending on others will be your downfall. You cannot press F1 and expect people to appear so you have to beself-sufficient to survive.

GraphicsAwards is knocking in my doorstep yet I don’t have a piece that I can submit. Why? Of all the people I asked help from, I only got a bunch of NO’s, one even vanishedinto thin air, the one who supposedly committed in helping me for the wonderfulevent. Probably, this might be a sign that I should not even pursue joining.

Coincidentally, the homily yesterday was all about HELP. (Yeah, I got the chance to celebratemass for the unknown(th) time.)

The priestquoted a song from the famous band “The Beatles”(the band supposedly greaterthan JC himself.)

“Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me?”

The priestpointed out whoever we are, the rich or the poor, comes a point in our livesthat we do ask for help…from our parents or friends or even from a totalstranger. And in this time of need, we will find someone who will be willing togive time.

Such is aclassic case of SYNCHRONITY—the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally unrelated(see Carl Jung).  I never thought this would be the topic inchurch, hell, it could be something about God and his almighty whatevers, or JCand bringing the dead to life or some one-sided “good” news.

Probably mycry for help reached somewhere; if these beings can provide me something…theyhave to make it quick, I’m actually losing my mind thinking where to look forhelp.

---

On otherobservations, What is it with people in churches? I may not be believing in the Catholic god or a good rolemodel for all things good and holy but at least I respect the mass. I saw a lot ofpeople texting, talking, and laughing around. Some were not even listening.

Why go tochurch when you’re not even willing to listen or celebrate the mass?

WHAT A BUNCHOF SHITTY HYPOCRITES!

[Part II] Me? A Beacon of Hope? [Jul. 31st, 2008|12:35 pm]

It’s bad when you make someonewho doesn’t believe in hope become the poster boy of all things good andpositive.

But first, let me tell whathas happened during the past few days.

A series of suicides have beenattempted by a  number of students. You can actually read them in different blogs and hear them around Taft Avenue. The latest attempt was made within school premises and luckily, it was prevented.

But hell broke loose after bringing the student to the supposed professionals or trained people in school. THEY NEVER KNEW how to handle the event. They all did what they were thought to do in times of these...it was textbook steps. Should they put the student to sleep? should they call the parents? should i become the president of the philippines? questions like that hahaha

I wouldn't blame them for not knowing what to do. After all, it's not everyday a student wants to jump off a school.

Five attempts? That's already something.

There must be something wrong with the school. But there might be other factors that might have contributed to these series of unfortunate events: Nationality, School standing, parents, friends, personal lives, the current economic standing of our country, the 50cent/text scam or who won the Ms. Universe Pageant.

With all these things considered, some administrators asked people to be more positive and approachable to everyone. Some even wanted to have a hotline. Maybe students [or even the admin] just needed a shoudler to cry on,  a friend to talk to, a place to belong to.

Some wanted all things around school should be ALL GOOD AND POSITIVE.

I was requested to write an essay for a new section called FIRST PERSON(a section which allows members of the Benildean community to share things about the school)then submitted it a week earlier than the mandated screening of written materials to be all good and positive. So i never knew what was going to happen until i asked why my essay was turned into a goody goody press release about the yearbook office as a world full of peace and harmony...but it was already too late to pull my piece out of the publication. It was already reproduced and scattered around the DLSPI. Even Bro.Vic got a copy.

They said they had to start with someone funny, someone who would share all things good and positive, someone who was at least stayed in school long enough to know the culture of the students.

Unfortunately, they started with the wrong person.

At least they could have told me all about thesethings so i could try to write in a way that it's still within mystyle. I feel for them, the power of propaganda is strong. They had thebest intentions, but they did something very wrong.

It’s really bad when you make someonewho doesn’t believe in hope become the posterboy of all things good andpositive. He might do the opposite :D hahaha
